Polar Mark was a collaborative research project with Jennifer Mills and Kieran Boland. Constructed around the idea that the artists should make work in response to a place that none of them had actually been to, Antarctica was chosen as the location due to its relative proximity to Australia, and yet its extreme otherness.
Rather than work towards a pre-determined outcome, or curatorial premise, Polar Mark evolved as the artists exchanged ideas and reviewed each others work. A fictional narrative emerged of a film crew who were in Antarctica to make a documentary, however, once there, things began to go array...
